How Does Remote DBA Work?

Triton’s remote DBA service provides your team with all the DB2 help they require in a single DB2 support package.

  • Prior to the Remote DBA agreement beginning, Triton will conduct a comprehensive Database Health Check on the system to be supported. As well as establishing the required remote connectivity, the health check will highlight any major issues that need to be addressed before the support service can begin.
  • Relevant support staff from the client will be introduced to their Remote DBA Companion - the Triton DBA that will be primarily responsible for dealing with their database. This promotes good communication between the client's support staff and Triton, which can greatly assist during problem determination in the event of a support issue.
  • Upon commencement of the Remote DBA agreement, Triton will begin to proactively manage the relevant DB2 services, monitoring them in real time and performing all of the activities necessary to maintain the performance and availability of the data. This also includes the application of regular DB2 Fixpaks, to ensure that the DB2 code itself stays as healthy as the client's data.
  • In the event of a support issue being raised (either directly by the client using their dedicated support hotline or via Triton's proactive monitoring service) a problem ticket will be raised in Triton's customer support system. The issue will then be remotely analysed and resolved by the client's DBA companion.
