Proactive Database Monitoring

Triton’s industry-leading proactive monitoring technology is included with every Remote DBA agreement. A lightweight, secure agent on the client’s database server is in constant communication with Triton’s support centre, passing critical system performance and health data to our centralised monitoring system.

At the first sign of a potential issue, the client’s Remote DBA Companion will be alerted and can begin to take remedial action. Often a potential issue is detected, analysed and resolved before the client is even aware of the problem.

Proactive monitoring will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Status of DB2 database manager
  • Local and Remote database connections
  • I/O activity on the database
  • Locking and deadlock activity
  • Logging activity
  • Sort activity
  • Bufferpool usage
  • Tablespace space utilisation
  • SQL statements
  • The DB2 diagnostic logs
  • File system space utilisation
  • CPU usage
  • Status of DB2 backups, restores, and housekeeping utilities

The client will have full and secure access to critical information via Triton’s innovative Remote DBA Portal. The portal will allow the client to access a wide variety of information, from tracking the status of individual support incidents to monitoring the status of their databases in real time and producing management information on recent support activity.
