IBM Announce geographically dispersed capability for DB2 pureScale

DB2 pureScale is now a true active/active disaster recovery solution with the announcement of it’s geographically dispersed capability.

IBM DB2 pureScale was first announced to the market back in October 2009 offering clustering technology that delivers continuous availability, unlimited scalability and application transparency. DB2 pureScale is based on industry leading DB2 for z/OS data sharing technology, organisations running DB2 on midrange systems now have the ability to benefit from the same kind of scalability and availability traditionally associated with DB2 z/OS.

Although a real breakthrough for the DB2 midrange market, until now the technology did not allow for remote disaster recovery.  This latest announcement is great news for organisations with dispersed locations who need true continuous availability.

Technical information about the GDPC (Geographically Dispersed DB2 pureScale Cluster) can be found on IBM DeveloperWorks – https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/long/dm-1104purescalegdpc/index.html?ca=drs
