Yet another prediction of the resurgence of the mainframe!

Every few months we get a story about the mainframe coming back into fashion.  This time it is the turn of The Economist.

As DB2 for z/OS specialists we’re always happy to see any news promoting the mainframe.  In fact, back in August last year we ran a story ourselves "Mainframe is the new black……but are we ready for it?"  which looked at the potential skills gap.

Has the mainframe ever really gone away though?  Since it’s launch the mainframe has been there keeping our large financial institutions running.

So what do the next 30 yeas hold for the mainframe? Well we can’t answer that one but we can be certain when we say that the mainframe will continue to be the backbone of our major industries’ IT systems for many years to come.
